Colin emailed a few months back asking if we could be there to capture his proposal to his girlfriend Rachel. After I stopped doing my happy dance of excitement we got to planning the perfect proposal. They met a few years ago at a concert in Boston, but they shared their first date, first kiss, and he asked her to be his girlfriend at Hampton Beach. This was a special place for them so he knew it was the perfect place to propose. He booked a weekend getaway there and we got to planning!
The weather tried to get in our way, but we moved things around so he could propose in the morning. He is SO thoughtful because he made sure we didn't do the session too early because she likes to sleep in {Good Man!}. We kept in touch that morning through texts, though she thought he was texting someone else. He let us know what they were wearing and when they were going for their walk on the beach so we could be ready. We got there over an hour early to make sure we had plenty of time to get ready, and to write "Will You Marry Me Rachel" in the sand. We even had another couple walk over that way while we were waiting and we were so nervous she was going to ALSO be Rachel and think the proposal for her. When you're nervous you think the craziest things!
I sat on the rocks behind and to the side of his proposal message, and Anthony was in a beach chair set back from them. We hid our cameras as they approached...our hearts racing, and pretended to play on our phones as they got closer. As soon as they were close enough and she saw the message we pulled out our cameras so we could capture the big moment! Rachel started immediately crying, and actually ran a bit in the opposite direction so Anthony and I had to abandon being incognito and we jumped up and ran over to capture him proposing to her. She was clearly shocked and so happy and SHE SAID YES!!! Rachel said she was so surprised overwhelmed with happiness. She also said "I was so excited because I knew that i had the special moment captured forever". Once Rachel caught her breathe we did their engagement photos right there on the beach! Even though the weather was a bit chilly and windy, it made for some beautiful photos with the waves crashing behind them. We even found a lifeguard tower with the #13...which is their anniversary!
When we asked them to describe the experience of having their proposal/engagement photos done with us they said:
"It was amazing to have two such talented people capturing our special moment. We both felt completely comfortable even after experiencing one of the biggest moments of our lives. Cannot say enough positive things about the whole experience."
We love that Colin thought ahead to hire Anthony and myself to be there to photograph his proposal. It was so amazing being there to capture one of the most important moments of their lives!
Congratulations Rachel & Colin!
