2020 was quite the year, but not in the way that any of us had imagined when it began. Rather than the exciting year we all had planned, we sheltered in place, wore masks, sanitized, quarantined, and found new ways to manage our daily lives in the midst of a global pandemic. The event industry was hit so incredibly hard, with most of us losing nearly our full calendar of weddings and events. It was a punch to the gut every time we read about another small business that had to close down because they were not able to weather this seemingly never-ending storm.
Rather than focus on all the difficulties this year has brought we wanted to share with you guys what made our year memorable in a beautiful way.
We stayed at home together and healthy and found new ways to entertain ourselves. Anthony has been able to work from home and Tripp has been remote learning since March. Giuliana has truly loved having everyone together and we are so thankful to have had both of these options for our family, and that it has worked out so well {Most of the time}. Tripp became a great reader and is handling the remote learning like a pro. We are so incredibly proud of him and his resilience.
We found joy in the simpler things and with the people who mattered most to us. We celebrated every Holiday a little longer, and appreciated the smaller circle we spent time with. We welcomed a beautiful brand new nephew and cherished our moments with family even more since we went months without them.
This year we choose to be thankful for the MORE in our lives rather than the LESS. More Senior sessions, because those kids who missed out on their Senior year truly deserved some awesome photos to commemorate all their hard work. More sessions at the beach which is our favorite place and our saving grace this year since we practically lived there this summer with my amazing in-laws. More familiar faces, our clients who have become like family and trust us year after year with their treasured memories. More new clients who realized how important their family memories are and wanted to capture these moments while they have time.
And we are so, so grateful for all of our wedding clients this year. They were seriously some of the most amazing people. For those of you who postponed to next year and kept in constant contact with us and worked with our calendar to ensure we could still capture your day… THANK YOU! For the couples that decided to go for it and have a mini wedding this year…THANK YOU for welcoming us to capture these moments for you. We loved the freedom and flexibility these events had and truly believe we took some of our favorite photos this year because we were able to spend a little more time with you than usual! We loved watching you celebrate and spend real time with the people who matter to you most.
We are SO looking forward to what 2021 will bring, and stay hopeful for a return to our normal lives. But until then, we will appreciate that this year slowed us down to appreciate the MORE.
Happy New Year Friends, Stay Healthy
